The things you say about Jerry and the Dead closely correlate to Judaism. It's not about the individual, it's about the community (the minyan), is wasn't about the band it was about the music.

And thus Rabbi Kirtan, play on..............

@Rick: Thanks. You, of course, have been one of my main teachers in all of this: www.taichialchemy.com.
A biography of Garcia which I once read related how he would choose one person in the audience at any given concert, lock eyes on him (or her) and then do the whole show wrapped in that particular Ich-Du Begegnung (I-Thou encounter).

Interesting idea! I can especially relate as it applies to meditation, how often I have caught myself straining to be a good meditator and missing the whole point :)

Great stuff Rebbe! Glad to see you're getting this out.

I love everything about the Dead...except their music. Didn't know Jerry was a fan of Buber. Makes sense. I'm totally with you on this 70% thing. Everything in moderation, including moderation. It's great to know you have that extra gear waiting. I love to let it all out on occasion, but I can only do that if MOST of the time I'm adding to the reserves.

I'm looking forward to future posts.
