Ruach Ha'Aretz provides a container for deepening Jewish Spiritual experience and expression; it promotes ecological awareness and sustainability. The theme for this year's biennial retreat is, Imagine: Visions of Peace.
This is an opportunity to study with Kirtan Rabbi over an extended period and truly go deep.
KR's Workshop is entitled: Olam Ha-Ba Now! Learning to find Peace and Eternity in the Moment:
Our sages of old used to say that the "World to Come" is not like this world. There, we find neither jealousy nor hatred nor competition, nor any other earthly strifes or struggles. Instead, the Tzaddiks sit there basking in the radiance of the Divine Shechinah. Most often, we envision such a condition of ultimate peace as coming at the end of historical time; or perhaps as awaiting us individually in the afterlife. But dig a little deeper and we find that our tradition also teaches that Olam Ha-ba is here and accessible. We need not wait: We can go there… now!
Through chant, meditation, easy chi gung and text study, in this week-long workshop, we will develop our innate, if seemingly hidden ability to tap in to Olam Ha-ba at any time. But we can’t stop there! In our discussions, we will direct a special focus toward incorporating the experience of Olam Ha-ba into our practices, Jewish and otherwise — as well finding a way to let it empower our efforts to cultivate peace in the broader world.
Note: There will also be a community-wide Hebrew Kirtan during the week.
